Queue Hub is an innovative passenger and traffic flow management solution that leverages AI and ML data analytics

Washington Ronald Reagan (DCA) and Dulles International (IAD) airports have experienced historical growth over the past years. This growth, in addition, to planned airport expansions have resulted in a change of traffic and passenger flow patterns, resulting numerous challenges around traffic and flow management such as:

  • Vehicle congestion and parking issues at both airports
  • Parking Lot Overflow Management increased frequency
  • IAD international gates wait time spikes 
  • DCA TSA wait time congestion and security concerns
  • Passenger Mobile Lounge usage concerns

MWAA Labs worked with the airport managers to develop an in-house solution to understand and manage passenger and traffic flow patterns. Queue Hub is a low cost, highly scalable, light weight, and easily deployable passenger flow management (PFM) applications that provides real time dashboard analytics to passenger and vehicle flow patterns. The dashboards provide insightful visualizations, metrics, trends, and indicators to assist airport managers in making tactical and long-term improvements to the passenger travel experience at our airports by leveraging current, historical, and predictive data provided by Queue Hub. 

Queue Hub Features/ Capabilities

  • Queue Hub application interfaces with any  Internet of Things (IoT) device such as HD cameras and laser sensors as appropriate to identify and count vehicles or passengers.
  • Queue Hub application, in conjunction with the AI/ML model to identify, quantify and transmit data to predeveloped dashboards with alerts and indicators for management insights and tactical actions.
  • Wait times, congestion, and changes in security stations can be transmitted to customers through digital signs, smart phones or web sites for passenger awareness and updates.
