MWAA Labs is the technology innovations team of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, located in Washington, D.C. We've been creating our own solutions to address today’s airport challenges since 2013.
Born out of necessity, our solutions are incubated, tested and refined using our two airports as sandboxes, with input from real customers and airline, regulatory, and integration partners in order to arrive at great products with great business models. We generate new prototypes and various proofs of concepts for real world problems to push forward the boundaries of what technology can do to make the travel experience truly seamless and secure.
Our first industry success came in 2018 with veriScan, a biometric traveler verification system that offered airports and airlines the quickest, easiest and most cost effective path to biometric exit compliance and paperless boarding. veriScan was acquired by Pangiam in 2021 and is currently used by several international U.S. airports.
We see tremendous value in in sharing back with the community. We believe in partnerships and collaboration to test new ideas and partner with other airlines, airports and regulatory agencies in order to harness the power of innovative tools and approaches that will accelerate global, meaningful impact within our industry.
We are continually exploring new technologies and approaches and specialize in areas across cloud services, mobile technologies, AI, deep learning, Internet of Things, digital display management, passenger flow and queue management, blockchain technology, and business intelligence, including predictive and prospective analytics.
